Novatel Wireless recently had another version of the MiFi pass FCC review–the MiFi 2372.
The MiFi 2372 looks to be the first MiFi that will run on GSM networks in America. The device is GSM/WCDMA/GPRS/EDGE compatible and will support the 850/1900Mhz bands.
The two American cellular providers that could offer the MiFi 2372 as part of their product lines are AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile.
A GSM version of the MiFi would allow American consumers the option of not being tethered to either Verizon or Sprint’s CDMA networks.

Any idea when it will release? Will it be unlocked like the 2352? I already have some sims from various carries, and will not
buy one with any 2 year plan attached.
So, I hear the 2352 will not work in the US? Would this not imply that the 2372 will not work overseas?
Thanks

Dave,
As of this minute, there is no release date set for the MiFi 2372.
At this time, I haven’t seen solid evidence that the 2372 will be an unlocked device. Here’s to hoping it is!
And you are quite right, the MiFi 2372 is cleared to run on the 850MHz & 1900MHz GSM bands in America, whereas GSM in Europe runs on the 900MHz and 1800MHz bands. It would be really nice to have a quad-band MiFi, though.

Thanks, I left a couple of messages with the company, but no return calls. Quad band would be very cool. I assume they are not far off, but will see.

I see the 2372 was announced today. No price, but I assume around 300. The big question is can I buy unlocked, and when.
Any ideas?

Dave,
It looks like we will have to wait and see. As soon as I know, I’ll post.
